Mission
The Good Works is founded on the idea that any work we do to grow and heal is "the good work". It is what we know will come from embracing our light & salt, given by God, as seen in Matthew 4:13-16.
Mental health and religion can "bump heads" and become very tricky to navigate, specially when we are already experiencing symptoms that something is not right. For example, how could you possibly "not worry!" and "let it go!" if you are chronically anxious? How could you just "have hope" when your recent months have been covered in depression? How can you simply "move forward" if your trauma chains you to the past?
Similarly, how could you do "the good work" in your own life, if you can't hold the pain of your mental health struggles?!
That's where I come in. You were not meant to carry this load alone. Let The Good Works be a part of your community, personal team, and healing journey. Allow yourself to feel loved as God loves, and give yourself the chance to experience the beautiful life he created for you.
Through this process, you will take a few assessments, receive a clinical diagnosis (if desired by the client), set individual goals for therapy, and receive psychotherapy. As part of your treatment, you will be given tools and resources, and you may (but, most likely will definitely) have some homework assignments that fit your current goals.
You will be able to invite friends, partners, or family members to your individual sessions, if you feel that would help you grow and prosper.
In addition to individual psychotherapy, I offer couples counseling and group therapy! Please see the "Counseling & Services" tab for more information.
And, for scholarship and sliding scale fee discounts, check out the "Ministry & Scholarship" tab.
At no point in this journey should you feel that you are alone, or that you are misunderstood. Our counselor takes pride in tailoring each session and treatment plan to each individual's personal needs, individual faith, and own goals.
About
My name is Sabrina Nadeau
Welcome! I am so happy you are here.
First things first, you are already taking the first step towards healing
by being on here, and I am so excited for you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA), and I have a Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling from Charleston Southern University. My clinical background and studies include faith integration, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, narcissistic abuse, and all things vocation. I have experience working with children with autism as a behavior therapist, conducting Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), under the BCBA. In addition, I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CF-CBT) through MUSC. I approach therapy from a Person-Centered lens, meaning I value each individual story and values as the key component to healing. I engage in: gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness, faith integration, exploration of values, boundary setting, motivational interviewing, attachment style work, and exposure therapy. I have worked with clients on all walks of life, from coaching parents on their three-year-old's behavior, to adults with personality disorders, and the elderly with end-of-life counseling. I have experience working in large agency, group private, and individual private practices.

Prior to beginning a career in counseling, I was a preschool teacher for 5 years. I have also taught ESOL (English as a Secondary of Other Languages) and Spanish at a middle and high school level. I was a Division 1 athlete, rowing for Clemson University; and I am a Wando High School Alumni and Mt. Pleasant local. Originally being born in Caracas, Venezuela, I also speak Spanish and offer counseling in Spanish as well.

I am a practicing Catholic, wife, and newly - a mom. I truly enjoy my job and view counseling as my passion, as it fulfills me and brings me joy. I also love walking the beach, a good vanilla latte, and call me crazy - cold weather!
